Vision Services

There are a variety of services available for people who are visually impaired. 

Wayne State University offers a free radio-reading service.  For more information, please visit their web site at www.dris.org/.

Leader dogs are available for people who need assistance.  There are special requirements for people wanting a leader dog such as being 18 years of age and being able and willing to care for a dog. 

Vocational Services and Independent Living Services are available through Michigan Commission for the Blind. 

The Wayne County Regional Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped has specialized library services for residents who are unable to read because of physical limitations.  Materials include talking books, large print books, and descriptive videos.  Materials can be mailed at no charge.
