The Take Charge Helpline
Transitional Housing
Transitional housing offers safe housing to people with mental illness who have become homeless for one reason or another. Because the streets and shelters can be very dangerous for people with mental illness, and family and friends may not be able to take them in, many people have no place to go. Transitional Housing offers people an opportunity to get back on their feet during the process of getting permanent housing of their own. Sometimes this takes weeks, months or even more than a year to secure an income or a place to live.
