Outpatient Therapy

Outpatient therapy provides therapeutic intervention to people in need of mental health services, but who do not require hospitalization.  Outpatient therapy is beneficial in providing initial assessment regarding the need for psychiatric counseling, as well as offering follow-up support to people just graduating from more intensive forms of care.

Outpatient programs are tailored to the needs of the person, and may include individual and / or group counseling, family therapy and 12-step programs.  Outpatient programs are not intended to be utilized alone, but in conjunction with other services and supports for those with severe emotional and / or psychiatric issues.  It provides ongoing, therapeutic interventions that support and guide the person as they work to overcome the challenges inherent in their day-to-day life.  When considering outpatient therapy, it is important to ensure that the person relates well to his or her counselor, is committed to recovery and has a strong external support system.
