Hearing Impaired and Deaf Services
Hearing Impaired and Deaf Services provide information on hearing loss, coping tips, and sign language classes for people experiencing any level of hearing loss. Interpreters can also be provided in some situations. Employment assistance is also available to people with hearing impairments.
Deaf and Hearing Impaired Services can be reached by calling 248-473-1888 for voice or 248-473-1875 for TTY. You can also visit them online at www.dhisonline.org/. Deaf and Hearing Impaired Services provides sign language interpreting and classes, outreach advocacy, bi-monthly newsletters, community education, information and referral regarding assistive devices for the deaf and for the hard-of-hearing, support groups and counseling, hearing screening, and otological evaluations.
The Michigan Relay Center can be reached by dialing 7-1-1, or 800-649-3777. You can also visit them online at www.michiganrelay.com. The Michigan Relay Center enables people who are Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and/or speech impaired to communicate with others. A relay representative will assist callers.
