Environmental Modifications

Environmental Modifications are physical adaptations to the home and or work place you may need to ensure your health, safety and welfare and which will help you to be more independent in your home or at work.

There are countless kinds of adaptations.  For instance, you can make adaptations by adding ramps or grab bars, widening doorways, a roll in shower, or raising a sink.  You can hire someone to do these things for you, and may be able to get assistance in paying for them.  The procedure for acquiring funding can be complex and confusing.  You should talk to an advocate or, if you have one, your supports coordinator for more information.

If you have questions about environmental modifications, call The Arc at 734-729-9100.
