Our
Mission
The Arc of Western Wayne County is committed to guaranteeing for all people with developmental disabilities the opportunity to choose where they learn, live, work, and play.
The Arc is also committed to reducing the incidence and limiting the consequence of mental retardation and other developmental disabilities through education, research, advocacy, and support of family, friends, and the community.
Our Scope
One in ten families is directly touched by a person with a developmental disability. In Western Wayne County, approximately 3% of the population are persons with developmental disabilities.

Our Enduring
Values
We believe that people with disabilities should:
- be respected as individuals with the same opportunities as all other citizens
- have the right to a full range of supports which promote personal choice and self-determination in all areas of their lives.
Our
Impact
We help people access housing, education, family support, employment, transportation, and recreation through organized, innovative programs and support networks.
We create opportunities for people with disabilities to gain assertiveness and community living skills. We shape public policy and advocate for people who have traditionally been excluded from society by monitoring, supporting, and creating progressive community programs.
